'The Laboratory of Social Sciences' called itself a research and educational project for the study of social processes. Together with the Oxford Russia Fund, LNS organized scholarship and grant programs for young scientists in the field of social sciences: Oxford Russia Fellowship, Oxford Russia Scholarship, Oxford Russia Postdoc. In addition, the Laboratory of Social Sciences participated in developing and organizing the 'Russian Readings' seminars in many foreign universities, as well as conducted research workshops, published scientific research, and developed teaching methods.

On June 18, 2021, due to its inclusion in the register of 'foreign agents', the Laboratory of Social Sciences announced its closure and is now officially in the process of liquidation.
