The Public Fund 'Za prirodu' was originally created to carry out work to help victims of radiation exposure. Later, the scope of its activities included promoting the socio-economic development of the Chelyabinsk region to attract investment in the health and environmental protection of the region. The Foundation was also responsible for organizing public hearings and campaigns for conducting expert examinations at various enterprises of the Chelyabinsk region that threaten the environment.

Reason for recognition
There are two organizations: Chelyabinsk Regional Charitable Public Foundation 'Za prirodu' ('For Nature')and the public movement of the same name (both are listed as 'foreign agents'). In 2014, the Norwegian Society of Nature Protection, a non-governmental public organization, donated to the foundation. According to the head of the movement, the officials were guided by the logic that the fund, receiving foreign money, finances the movement of the same name when they listed the public movement and the fund as 'foreign agents'. That was an expression of the fund's political activity. The movement, in turn, is already engaged directly in political activity in the form of shaping public opinion aimed at changing state policy.
