Mediazona is a Russian online media outlet founded in September 2014 by Pussy Riot members Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Maria Alyokhina. Mediazona focuses on news coverage, analytics, columnism about the judiciary, law enforcement agencies and the penitentiary system in Russia, as well as various manifestations of persecution of Russian citizens for their political views.

Those were 9 publications based on materials from Meduza, Radio Liberty, Krym.Realii, Idel.Realii, Kavkaz.Realii, Sever.Realii, Sibir.Realii, Current Time, as well as publications with comments by Lev Ponomarev, Lyudmila Savitskaya, Sergey Markelov, Denis Kamalyagin and Daria Apakhonchich, all included in the register of media recognized as 'foreign agents'.

Since 2017, the register of “foreign agents” (media) includes those legal entities who, according to the Russian government:
a) receive money or property from foreign sources,
b) distribute printed, audio, audiovisual and other messages and materials intended for an unlimited range of persons. Distribution includes not only the publication of the original post but also the repost.
