“Bellona-Murmansk” was created to track environmental problems related to the activities of the nuclear facilities on the North-West coast of Russia. On its website, the organization published articles, reports and analytical materials about the ecology of the North of the country.

The organization was listed in the register based on the results of an unscheduled inspection conducted by the Ministry of Justice for the region of Murmansk. 'Bellona' is an international environmental association. The central office of the association is located in the capital of Norway — the city of Oslo (from which they stated foreign financing to be present). The publication of a report on industrial pollution of the Russian part of the Barents Sea and Bellonas' proposals to improve Russian environmental legislation were recognized as political activity.
