The environmental association “Green World” was established in 1988 as a structural subdivision of the youth cultural centre “Federation” of the Moskovsky district of Nizhny Novgorod. Valentina Malakhova, the founder of the organisation, a correspondent of the newspaper “Rabochaya Zhizn” of the Aviation Plant, was chosen as the coordinator of the association. On 24 April 1992 the organisation was registered. The organisation is engaged in cleaning the banks of the river from rubbish, water quality research, restoration of natural landscapes, holding protest actions, organising children’s environmental camps and other activities.
