The “Soldiers' Mothers of St. Petersburg” is an organization that provides free legal support to conscripts, military personnel, and their families. In addition, it tracks violations of rights and legitimate interests of conscripts, military personnel, and their families, and then notifies the appropriate authorities or international human rights organizations.

The organization also develops the institute of alternative civil service: members of the “Soldiers' Mothers” run an emergency “hotline” and provide legal education to conscripts through a mobile application.

The "Soldiers' Mothers of St. Petersburg" was recognized as a "foreign agent" after an inspection conducted by the Ministry of Justice, which revealed that the organization was engaged in political activity. The Ministry classified as such one of the publications on the NGO's website, in which the organization's head Ella Polyakova called for a diplomatic settlement of the conflict in southeastern Ukraine.
