'Sova' is engaged in research in the field of nationalism and xenophobia, studies the relationship between religion and society, political radicalism, the (un)rooting of liberal values, and the (dis)respect of human rights in Russia.
In 2015, together with the Civil Assistance Committee, 'Sova' made an interactive online map of attacks motivated by racial or religious hatred.

Reason for recognition
'Sova' was deemed a 'foreign agent' following an unscheduled inspection of the center by the Ministry of Justice. According to 'Anti-Maidan', the organization had been receiving funding from the Soros Foundation, but in fact, was financed by several European public organizations, as well as the German and Dutch Foreign Ministries.
