The organization has been preserving, researching and restoring the environment in more than one hundred countries since 1961. It had projects in the Soviet Union since 1988, the ecologists have been saving rare species of animals, sea flora and fauna, forests, working at specially protected natural territories, preventing climate change and ecologizing oil and gas industry.

Reason for recognition
The Prosecutor General's office probably blames the organization of using its environmental and educational activity to cover the realization of projects threatening the security of the Russian economics. According to the agency, under the guise of preserving the environment, the World Wildlife Fund is preventing the realization of political course of the country on industrial development of the Arctic territories, natural resources in the subarctic region, and is also developing and legitimizing restraints capable to serve as a foundation to transfer the track of the Northern Sea Route in the direction of the exclusive economical zone of the United States.
