The Czech "Freedom of Information Society" was registered in February 2015. The task of the organization is to ensure openness and free access to information of public interest and social significance, to cooperate with government agencies in this area, and to provide education about the rights associated with free access to information.
In the summer of 2021, the Society for Freedom of Information was recognized as an "undesirable" organization, which is why the independent human rights project Team 29, led by lawyer Ivan Pavlov, was forced to announce its closure - the Prosecutor General's Office identified the organization with the Czech Freedom of Information Society.
